That is incorrect. I’d say it is likely the other way around. The P-3 type gets the CRM and tactical side; “flying” is the easier part IMO.

Watching people/seeing aircrew at work and understanding everything that they need to do to be able to fill a crew position are pretty different. There are many small to big parts for flyers, with Pilot being the most stringent; both in a simulator and aircraft. I can’t speak for all fleets...
