I requested a reassessment in Jan 2023. I received the forms in Oct 2023.

My example was actually 2 different wpns systems but I get what you mean šŸ˜‰ We just need the GoC to give up some money! šŸ™‚

MAG could improve the way out best crew sims are capable of linking together and with Allies. Having said that, some sig improvements have been made in ability to join multi-national SIMEXs.

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

They have been relaxed some, where possible, since I’ve been with the fleet. Is more possible? I don’t think so, not without negatively impacting safety and proficiency. It’s been discussed numerous times and the fleet talks about these things are regularly scheduled STDs and Trg...

Block 4 PCTs in ZX and QQ for Tac tube, and the CPT and FFS for flight deck types in ZX.

No you flat out said ā€œno one in the CAF has flown the P8ā€. You made a statement and that statement was not correct. Currently, there are RCAF LRP aircrew with more than 1 of our allies P-8 fleets. I’m not going to say how many, where, or their trades on here.

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

Not at all; it’s more a reality of the civie Pilot part time ability to get thru the training and then maintain the category and currency requirements (which are the exact same for Reg and Res). It works for people going Reg to Res, reasonably well in our fleet. Flip side; the people on...

That is incorrect. I’d say it is likely the other way around. The P-3 type gets the CRM and tactical side; ā€œflyingā€ is the easier part IMO.

Being shot at in a sim with MANPADS and hearing ā€œguns guns gunsā€ over the ICS during a mission in Syria were not the same experience for me; YMMV. ā€œOnly restricted by the limits of the person writing the programmeā€. How about funding?

Just wanted to add quickly; with the P-8 comes new sims. I have zero info on how the sims are in the P-8 fleets our Allies are using. Hopefully both YFR and sim availability increase for our VP folks. I’ve experienced Block 2, 3 and 4 OMS in the 140 fleet and base my opinion on that.

So is the FFS for the 140 (ā€œishā€). The OMS, Operational Mission Simulator, which incorporates the whole crew, ā€œsimulatesā€ the real world. Lots more to consider like simulating a RFN SSN, water mass, acoustic performance, weapon’s behaviour, riser/sinker parameters, EO/IR. The simulate...

How often do maint have to do egress currency? If they don’t turn a wrench in 30 days, do they need a STF by a STDs quald person to get them current again? Minimum flight and sim hours every 30 days? Quarterly? Semi and annual currency requirements? The tail chase aircrew deal with re...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

FEs are still flying RW…but there is a project that is (the last I heard…) looking at ways to modernize all flying NCM trades, I believe some of our Allies were looked at and visited to see how they break theirs out. Like, one MOSID with Occ specialities/sub-MOSIDs.

Traffic tech still has green DEU types (I think). Refueling trucks are MSE Ops, as are Flt Feeding delivery vehs. There’s an sub-unit ā€œLRP Supplyā€ in the Op hanger in ZX; I’ll guess they fall under WLog somehow but would probably be very type-specific in experience/knowledge after a...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

Watching people/seeing aircrew at work and understanding everything that they need to do to be able to fill a crew position are pretty different. There are many small to big parts for flyers, with Pilot being the most stringent; both in a simulator and aircraft. I can’t speak for all fleets...

CMMA - replacing the CP140 Aurora

ā€œFlying a planeā€ is just one aspect of the job; right now in some fleets it’s hard just for aircrew to maintain their ticket/category/currency. I’m not sure how a true blue Class A reserve pilot would ever get thru the trg; just to be a FO in our fleet is a fair amount of work. If you...
