No more rifles on drill/grad parade?

Your not getting the point. Personally as a private, corporal and master corporal, I hated parade square drill and parades. Like if I could magically die and resurrect myself after the parades were over, I would. But a few things struck me. On the 45th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong for...

No more rifles on drill/grad parade?

Normally I agree with about 90-95% of what you post. Not sure where you stand on this issue. May I ask some questions 1. In your opinion, Does drill (including arms drill) belong universally in recruit training? 2. As above, do you feel drill should be taught above to recruits? 3. If drill...

No more rifles on drill/grad parade?

@btrudy So the answer to my other questions remains unanswered. Can I assume you have never instructed recruits? Point noted.

No more rifles on drill/grad parade?

When tradition and honouring the military past has zero negative impact on current operational capability, than do it. Does trooping infantry colours do a damn useful current thing for an infantry battalion? Nope. However it maintains a strong link to the past and history of the...

No more rifles on drill/grad parade?

Absolutely not one good reason have I seen from you for stopping drill. Not one. How many recruit courses have you instructed on? Myself, 1 reg f and 4 reserve BMQ. Enlighten us, all knowing one.

No more rifles on drill/grad parade?

So why should we eliminate drill in basic? I still haven't seen a valid reason for doing so. Is bed making that important? Is boot polishing really a part of your job? Is forced marches necessary if your going to spend your career on ships? Why bother teaching history of the CAF if people might...

    Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

OICs are a tool to be used very sparingly and with extreme caution... The intended or unintended consequences can be quite drastic

    Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

What I am getting at is I think governments have this as a "political weapon". They can make an OIC that really doesn't pass the smell test with most Canadians but get away with it because they can wear any challengers down in court (defeat via legal battles, which is dirty)
  20. ArmyRick

    Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

@brihard "All regulations/OICs are absolutely able to be challenged in court. Due process does still exist." And that gets very costly. The government has all the money in the world, most of everyone else has limited if any funds to pursue it in court
